Social structured: (Classes and Castes)

 

There is a lot poverty and inequality widespread in Myanmar. The society is divided into tiny elite, a small middle class, and a large number of very poor people.

While there are traditional elites within most of the ethnic groups and new elites in some groups whose wealth comes from smuggling, the national elite are overwhelmingly Burmese.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Political

 

from1962-2011   the country was  ruled by a suppressing military Junta regieme.

Human rights abuses such as forced relocation of civilians and the widespread use of forced labour, including children and child soldiers were attributed to the military leaders;

The first general election in 20 years was held in 2010 by the junta as an important step in the transition from military rule to a civilian democracy,

the first elections were boycotted by the main opposition group, Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD) - which had won a landslide victory in the previous multi-party election in 1990 but was not allowed to govern.

Democratic elections will be held on November 2015.
